Company and Job Summary:

M2 is a highly collaborative, hands-on engineering and electrical professional services organization supporting government, defense, and aerospace programs. We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the technical execution of complex electrical and mechanical systems within a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing and integration environment.

This role owns technical execution across aerospace projects, from requirements definition through production support, while working closely with internal teams, field personnel, and customer stakeholders. The Project Engineer operates in a highly interactive environment, partnering daily with engineering, production, quality, and executive leadership to ensure work is completed in alignment with customer requirements, project objectives, and M2’s quality standards. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

This position is ideal for recent graduate or an engineer early in their career. The role reports through the Aerospace Program and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own technical execution of assigned work scope, ensuring alignment with aerospace customer requirements, project schedules, and quality expectations

  • Collaborate directly with customer technical teams, internal engineering staff, and electrical services personnel to define requirements, clarify scope, and support deliverables

  • Translate engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements into clear, actionable instructions for fabrication, assembly, installation, and production teams

  • Provide hands-on engineering support to production and electrical integration activities, including frequent interaction on the shop floor and project sites to resolve issues and maintain project momentum

  • Troubleshoot technical challenges during fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing, driving timely and practical solutions

  • Support project planning and execution activities, including development of work orders, material coordination, schedules, budgets, and execution tracking

  • Contribute to development of inspection and test plans, build plans, installation plans, and production execution documentation

  • Review purchase orders, contracts, and change requests to ensure technical requirements and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and met

  • Partner cross-functionally with production, welders, quality, field personnel, and executive leadership to address risks, resolve issues, and maintain alignment

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready documentation in compliance with AS9100 and internal quality standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through technical challenges in fast-paced manufacturing and field-service environments

  • Effective communicator, able to work across technical teams, skilled trades, customer stakeholders, and leadership

  • Ability to operate with a high degree of ownership while working under general guidance

  • Knowledge of DoD regulations, policies, and procedures associated with aerospace project/site

  • Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings, fabrication, manufacturing, and electrical integration processes

  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo)

  • Experience with technical documentation, engineering reports, and controlled documentation environments

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Comfortable working in office, production floor, and field/project site environments

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering document control systems preferred

  • Adaptable and able to support evolving project, customer, and business needs

Experience:

  • 2–4 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, electrical integration, or technical project support role within aerospace, defense, industrial, or advanced manufacturing environments

  • Experience working with the Department of Defense or on aerospace project sites preferred.

  • Experience supporting projects with cross-functional coordination between engineering, production, quality, and field/service teams

  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001

  • Experience supporting technical project execution, planning, tracking, and coordination in a customer-driven environment

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field preferred

  • Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, certifications, and directly relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • EIT (Engineer in Training) certification preferred

  • PE (Professional Engineer) license a plus

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement certification a plus
